GTTF Global Championship — A First Step Toward Our Identity

The GTTF Global Championship represents the first step in establishing the unique identity of GTTF.

The road ahead is still long, but we believe that by moving forward steadily, without stopping, our destination will draw ever closer.

Throughout history, the rules of Taekwondo competition have continuously evolved. Yet in that process, rapid and dramatic changes have often left Traditional Taekwondo struggling to preserve its original values and spirit. Even so, competition remains an essential element in the development of Taekwondo. Through competition, skills are tested, excellence is revealed, and new generations are inspired.

Today, we face a complex but meaningful challenge:

To support competition, preserve tradition, and meet the expectations of a diverse global Taekwondo community—all at the same time. This is not an easy task, but history has always been shaped by those who dare to research, experiment, and move forward.

Why the First Global Championship Matters

If GTTF were to introduce competition rules that were too different from those already in use, it could create confusion and resistance among athletes who have trained under

existing systems. With this in mind, the First GTTF Global Championship was designed as a careful and thoughtful beginning.

Rather than breaking away completely, we aim to remain within the general framework of current competition rules, while gradually reintroducing the strengths and spirit of traditional Taekwondo—one element at a time.

This first championship is therefore not a radical departure, but a strategic and respectful evolution.

Competition Divisions

The First GTTF Global Championship includes three main categories:

1. Poomsae

 Traditional Poomsae

 Freestyle Poomsae

2. Kyorugi (Sparring)

 Individual Competition

 Team Competition

 Elite Group

 Festival Group

3. Demo Team Competition

This division highlights the dynamic, creative, and artistic dimensions of

Taekwondo, transforming competition into a performance that unites not only the athletes but also the audience.

An Open Platform for All Taekwondo Styles

The GTTF Global Championship is open to all Taekwondo styles that respect and pursue the values and philosophy of Traditional Taekwondo.

It is not merely a contest of winning and losing.

It is a forum for rediscovering where Taekwondo comes from, where it is going, and how its future can be shaped with integrity and purpose.

This championship marks the beginning of a new competition culture—one that honors tradition while moving confidently toward the future.
